Sands Queensland provides support, information, education and advocacy for parents and families who experience the death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, newborn death or other pregnancy losses. Sands Queensland supports parents no matter how long since the death of their baby. Whether newly bereaved or whether your baby died some years ago, we are here to help you find the support and information you need.
Sands Queensland launched a memory bag program, Butterfly, in 2013. The bag is handmade by volunteers and contains a memory creation pack to help guide newly bereaved parents to collect memories of their baby’s short life. Volunteers are need to make and distribute the bag as well as donations of items for the bag. Each bag is handmade by our volunteers. Sands Queenalnd supplies the pattern and material, volunteers sew the bag and then return it to Sands to be filled with a memory creation pack and donated to a hospital.
We currently have a handmade memory bag program that requires items to be made to specific patterns detailed on our website HERE.
You can also access other free knitting patterns for babies that would be greatly appreciated HERE. There is also a Facebook page for the Beloved Butterfly Gifts which details items needed and patterns.
